Who We Are

We are two strangers who were united through a common struggle. Patrick is a 25-year-old male former college lacrosse player and Jen is a 27-year-old female dancer. We came in lost to ourselves and abandoned by the world. We both have very different stories and backgrounds, yet we shared the same fate. Jen and I met in an eating disorder treatment center in Florida. We were introduced at our lowest point emotionally and physically, yet we found life in each other. Jen’s famous words “We didn’t check into treatment on our best day…” This is true, the two of us met at the worst of times. I was fighting a four-year battle with anorexia nervosa and Jen was trying to overcome a 15-year on and off war with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. We spent over a month together with other clients searching for existence, and seeking a true purpose.

Jen and I came in as strangers, but we left recovery together on Monday April 28th, as friends and teammates in life. Together, we chose to live that day, and we choose to care! “I chose to live,” is not just a choice; it’s a right of passage. Everyone faces struggles in life, and must face some sort of adversity. For the two of us, we just happen to suffer the horrible fate of fighting to overcome an eating disorder. It doesn’t matter what you face, everyone has the ultimate choice to live again. What does live again mean? Well, just ask anyone struggling with an eating disorder or some type of disease or addiction. To us, living with ED was merely walking dead, dead in self, and dead to the world. Together, we found strength in each other and together made the choice to live! “I chose to live” stands for love, life, and liberty. It’s a choice everyone can make, but more than anything, it’s a way of life! Be different, will you choose to live?

Love: live in self and each other, love with a passion
Life: live with a purpose, live with God
Liberty: live free to choose, and free to be different
