I just stopped eating. Food was a way of control, and my weight drastically dropped to the point where I couldn’t even keep down a small meal. I was completely frightened of eating. I didn’t realize that I was in the biggest game of my life. Like many other young boys growing up, I was a sports junky. As soon as school was out, I enthusiastically threw myself into some sports activity. I always dreamed of being a professional athlete and, yes, I was always reenacting those famous last-second game-winning shots on Sports Center replays. As far back as I can remember, I had a lacrosse stick in my hand, and I loved it. I had a small frame for an athlete, weighing 135 lbs. and standing 5 ft. 6 in. However, I conditioned my body to be as strong as those who were much bigger and faster. I was a smart player, and very aggressive. Lacrosse soon became by life and my identity.
